Biomechanical and physiology research at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and four Canadian Federal Government research projects led Dr. Juris Terauds, Professor at the University of Alberta, to the invention of the stepper and the Xiser® Wellness Machine®, in 1977, a new trainer™ designed for short intense workouts.
Already in 1977 there was conclusive research evidence that short intensive training produced a far greater training effect than mild aerobic exercise. The short intensive training, or anaerobic training, has been known as sprint training, short bout training, maximum velocity training, burst training, maximum effort interval training, etc. All of it a perfect match for the new Xiser® Trainer™.
